Save Garrius?

Rumors of methods of saving Garrius have been prevalent ever since the release - claiming that if you raised Garrius to max level, or gave him a particular set of items, etc. that he could survive. I’m not sure where this came from because it’s just completely impossible. Even with debug mode, the game breaks if you change the party at all after the Well of Time. I guess it is just people trying to undo the trauma of seeing Garrius die…
